Christmas fabric hearts

This was a pre christmas craft that we made at “TimeOut for Mum’s” at playgroup last year.  It has to meet the usual simple, quick and inexpensive criteria while still looking okay (excuse the photo – it does look much better  – I promise).  We made these in November and chose colours which could either be used for  Christmas or all year round.

Choose a selection of six or seven coordinated materials.

Cut or rip into strips about 3cm wide.  The strips are then ready to be cut into the length  – 12cm is about right but you could make them a bit longer if you prefer.

We used plastic coated wire coat hangers which we bent into rough heart shape and secured with strong tape (I did these in advance to save time).

Then it is just a process of knotting the pieces onto the wire until all the wire is covered. Add a longer strip or a piece of ribbon as a hanger.

One of the great things about this project is that it doesn’t require too much concentration and so it is perfect for sitting around and chatting while you create.

There are lots of ways that you can link this in with a short talk or devotion about love, our hearts desires, God’s love for us….

Happy creating!
